At Kalinga Cultural Association, we celebrate the ethos of being Odia

The Kalinga Cultural Association (KCA) of Thane was established in 2015 as a non-profit cultural association to promote and foster international relationship and goodwill within Odia communities.

The vision and commitment to work for social cause follow feeling and goodwill among the members of the association and others in general by arranging discourse, social gatherings and functions (festivals, workshops, preservation through books, films, etc...). This association is a non-profitable charity Trust.

Community Events and Festivals

Although far from Odisha, but we have created a community to have strong bond and rejoice of being Odia. The key events celebrated are Saraswati Puja, Savitree Puja, Raja Parab, Boita Bandana and Picnics.

Community work and social responsbility

KCA is a close knit group of like minded people. Together we are engaged in various social activities such as Health Camps, Blood Donation Drives and Old Age Home Visits.

Art and Literature

We at KCA value for creativity in the field of art and literature. KCA members have showcased creativity locally, nationally and digitally too.

Saraswati Puja

Maa Saraswati Puja is celebrated at with vigour and scale in Thane. We have been observing Puja for last 10 years in Thane. Each year it has grown in participants. The community members showcased talent in gala cultural program. The cultural program comprise of various Odia dance forms, Vocal, Drama,Poem recite and musicals. Phutania Drama Company has been performing many dramas in KCA forums.

The women wing of KCA has performed in all Sasaswaiti Puja events. They have showcased talent in many festivals in Mumbai including BOWA (Bombay Odia women’s association).

Raja Parba

Raja Parba is unique to Odia culture and we honour and respect to mother Earth in unique way.

Raja festival is being observed in a resort within Thane for past several years.

Each Raja parba is marked with Odia traditional games, Raja doli and Odai delicacies.

ରଜ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଏକ ପାରମ୍ପାରିକ ପର୍ବ ଓ ରାଜ୍ୟର ଗଣପର୍ବ । ଏହା ତିନିଦିନ ଧରି ପାଳନ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ । ଏହାର ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଦିନରେ ମିଥୁନ ମାସର ଆରମ୍ଭ ଓ ଏହା ପରେ ବର୍ଷା ଋତୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୁଏ । ରଜ ସଂକ୍ରାନ୍ତିର ପୂର୍ବଦିନ ପହିଲି ରଜ, ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଦିବସ ହେଉଛି ରଜ ସଂକ୍ରାନ୍ତି, ତୃତୀୟ ଦିବସ ହେଉଛି ଭୂମିଦାହ ବା ଭୂମି ଦହନ, ଚତୁର୍ଥ ତଥା ଅନ୍ତିମ ଦିବସ ହେଉଛି ବସୁମତୀ ସ୍ନାନ ।

Cultural & Litreture

Oriya Literature is also known as Odia Literature, Odisha literature, Orissa Literature. There is a consensus among eminent Indian Philologists that Oriya is a separate language and has a rich literature.

Cultural Events

Saraswati Puja, Raja Parba, Boita Bandana and Savitri Puja are the key festivals celebrated by our KCA family.

Saraswati Puja is a major cultural event in KCA. This is observed with gala cultural event.

Raja Parba observed in a nearby resort with Odia cusine, traditional doli and games.

Boita Bandan is celebrated on early morning of Karthika Purnima followed by Odia snacks.

Art and Litreture

Our president Mr Sukendu Patnaik has created a PODCAST series ‘ Kathakar Odia Books’ Audio version of most famous Odia short stories.

Mr Subir and Sagarika Verma’s Book “ Job Search Secrets‘Published by penguin Publications.

KCA associate partner Vedanti Magazine is published by Mr Arvind Mishra for almost a decade.

Community Work and Social Responsbility

KCA (Kalinga Cultural Association) organises health camps, Old Age home visit and blood donation drives are taken periodically in and around Thane
